Implementing the cooperation program on Science and Technology between Vietnam and China, on 4th August, 2010, Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology and Chinese General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine held Vietnam-China Certification and Accreditation Forum on Melia Hanoi Hotel, drawing government officials and company representatives of the two countries specialized in this field.

In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology of Vietnam Nguyen Quan said the meeting was held in the context of Vietnam-China Friendship Year and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China.
The forum provided a chance for officials and businessmen of the two countries to inform each other of standards and requirements when carrying out activities related to exporting, importing and investment, Quan said.
Speaking at the forum, Deputy Director of Chinese General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine ( AQSIQ) Sun Dawei said certification and accreditation are important components of international trade. The international cooperation of certification and accreditation is one of the most important conditions of trade facilitation.
Sun expected that the forum would increase communication and cooperation of certification and accreditation between China and Vietnam and promote the development of bilateral trade.
Chinese official statistics showed that China has maintained Vietnam's largest trade partner for the past five years. Last year, despite the global financial crisis, the two-way trade increased by 8.2 percent to about 21 billion U.S. dollars. The two countries vow to increase bilateral trade to 25 billion U.S. dollars this year.
